Oromo peoples believe to have been colonized and oppressed since the incorporation of their territory into Ethiopia at the end of the 19th century. The TPLF regime has also for long targeted Oromo Liberation Front members, supporters and militant of the Oromo ethnic group and undertaken repression in Oromia and other countries. In line with this, the TPLF regime has passed death sentence, life long term prisonment without legal bases. The regime kept more than 50,000 Oromo origin people in secret prisons without bringing to court.

We strongly condemn the illegal human rights violation of the TPLF regime and calls for immediate release of all Oromo political prisoners. The regime must stop forcing Oromo peasant to leave their land. The impact of the TPLF’s ethnic federalism policies has been the relocation of Oromo farmers. We belief that the land grabbing programs have economically benefited Tigray and Amhara people to the detriment of the Oromo was reported. The forced relocation has also placed resources in the Oromo region under strain, resulting in denial of rights to adequate shelter, water, food, and health care.
