3-Day Minnesota-State-Capitol #OromoProtests Solidarity Hunger-Strike Ends Successfully at the Passing of Minnesota House Resolution Condemning the Ethiopian Govt’s Violence on Oromo Students

The three-day hunger-strike, which was held by Oromos and friends of the Oromo in front of the Minnesota State Capitol in solidarity with #OromoProtests and to seek justice for Oromo students and civilians massacred by the TPLF Ethiopian regime in April 2014, successfully ended earlier today with the issuance of the Minnesota House Resolution condemning the April 2014 massacres in Oromia and urging the U.S. Federal Government (which has the authority to interact with foreign governments per the U.S. Constitution) to “pressure on the Ethiopian authorities to respect human rights and democratic process.”
According to sources, the organizers of the #OromoProtests Solidarity Hunger-Strike plan to stage similar protests at locations to be announced at a later date to bring to the International Community’s attention the violence being perpetrated by the TPLF Ethiopian government against unarmed Oromo students and civilians, who continue to use their Universal Human Rights and Constitutional Rights to nonviolently protest against the Addis Ababa Master Plan. The Addis Ababa Master Plan is a plan to break up Oromiyaa into two, and dispossess Oromo farmers in Central Oromiyaa of their farmlands under the disguise of “development.”
The Resolution was undersigned by the following Members of the Minnesota House of Representatives:
- Representative Paul Thissen (DFL) District: 61B (Speaker, Minnesota House of Representatives)
- Representative Erin Murphy (DFL) District: 64A (Chair, Rules and Legislative Administration)
- Representative Phyllis Kahn (DFL) District: 60B (State Representative)
- Representative Karen Clark (DFL) District: 62A (State Representative)
- Representative Frank Hornstein (DFL) District: 61A (State Representative)
- Representative Diane Loeffler (DFL) District: 60A (State Representative)
Below is the Minnesota House Resolution, which supported the Oromo community in Minnesota and condemned the violence on Oromo students and civilians in Oromia.
