Inspector Meteku, a senior member of Bahir Dar Police, has been
killed on a hit and run car accident near the area routinely known as
Woreda Hulet yesterday morning. The killers have not been apprehended
so far. Chief Inspector Wubetu, who is investigating the killing, said
to ESAT that the cause is being investigated. Asked if he was killed by
people whom he had abused, the Inspector said although the earlier
investigations do not indicate foul play, it will be definitively known
once the investigation is completed.
Residents of Kebele 13 have said that the dead Police Inspector had
been committing several human rights abuses and was killed by people who
took the brunt of his actions.
